The next generation of integrated refuge products - Optimum® AcreMax® and Optimum® AcreMax® Xtra insect protection - allow growers to meet all refuge requirements with a single-bag product, delivering convenience for insect refuge management (IRM) and offering two versions for grower choice.
Two types of Optimum® AcreMax® products: 1) above-ground protection, and 2) two versions of the Optimum® AcreMax® Xtra products in the Power Plus®* brand for above-and below-ground protection. Both types should assist in increasing overall farm yields by reducing refuge and helping to ensure durability of important traits through built-in IRM compliance.

More solutions and choice from Burrus! For above-ground only protection, Optimum® AcreMax® includes Herculex® I stacked with YieldGard® Corn Borer†. Power Plus® 6F72AM™* brand and 7P44AM™* brand are Optimum® AcreMax® products allowing growers to eliminate a separate refuge.
Above-and-below-ground protection: Power Plus® 4B32AMX™* & 6F73AMX™* brand
For growers needing above-and below-ground protection, there are two Power Plus® products with the single bag refuge — 4B32AMX™* and 6F73AMX™* brand. The Optimum® AcreMax ®Xtra combines Herculex® XTRA stacked with YieldGard® Corn Borer. Both systems contain only Glyphosate tolerance, not Glufosinate tolerance, and can be found in our final Product Selection Guide coming in the mail soon or in the product section here.
Eliminating the need for separate refuge plantings means more acres are protected with the industry-leading Herculex traits, thus increasing harvestable yield.
Corn borer, corn rootworm refuge in one bag
The ultimate in simplicity! Traditionally, growers have to plant a 20% structured insect refuge** of conventional or herbicide tolerant seed to meet EPA refuge requirements when planting stacked Bt traits (CRW+ECB). Optimum® AcreMax® and Optimum® AcreMax® Xtra insect protection will integrate the required corn borer and/or corn rootworm refuge into one bag, allowing growers to plant an entire field or farm with one product, eliminating the need for traditional refuge.
